I've got an interior load-bearing wall that will have TJI joists bearing on it from both sides. One side has 9 1/2" deep joists, the other has 16" deep joists, and the tops must be at the same elevation. How should this be detailed? Would the 9 1/2" joists have blocking beneath them to get their tops at the same elevation as the 16" joists? Is this ever done, or should I just use the (more expensive) 16" joists on both sides (or make them all continuous 16" joists)?
Thanks.
Thanks.
