Hi
We have a Micom Relay P40 Agile on our alternator. We can view the disturbance recorder and the recordings. However we want to improve it as sometimes it does not record all disturbances. We want to determine the cause and sequence of each trip of our turbo alternator. We have usual trips following disturbance on the grid. Can someone help us? Thks

Technical manual for the relay should be your guide. They have 'Application' section where the settings and terminology is explained.
If you have a specific query, it won't be a problem to help.

I see the selection for 'trigger mode' is 'Single' in the setting file. It is recommended to select 'Extended' so that the relay can record intermediate triggers as well. See the extract from manual:
"If set to single mode, if a further trigger occurs whilst a recording is taking place, the
recorder will ignore the trigger. However, if this has been set to "Extended", the post
trigger timer will be reset to zero, thereby extending the recording time."
The duration is kept 1.5s with trigger position as 33.33%. This means the total duration of each disturbance record will be 1.5s out of which 0.5s will be pre-trigger recording and 1s will be post-trigger recording. While this setting is OK for most of the protections, it cannot capture the complete waveform if the trip is on IDMT O/C protection operation.
You can increase the set duration from 1.5s to some thing higher as required and the max possible setting is 10.5s. It is to be noted that number of records that the relay can store will come down if the duration is increased.

Hi RRaghunath
We have a problem of discrimination of settings on a power plant. However I cannot post this and the details on a public forum due to confidentiality issue. Is it possible to have your mail?
Thks
