I am looking for some approximate guidelines for achievable tolerances from mumetal after heat treatment?
I have a design that will consist of cylinder 4" (101.6mm) in diameter, and 8" (203.2mm) in length rolled from 0.04" (1.02mm) thick mumetal sheet.
I am looking for comments as for what would be the typical tolerance I should allow for to avoid clashes? I have a design requirement where I need to fit the mumetal cylinder inside a stainless steel tube, and I want to ensure that it will always fit! I am aware that the heat treatment will have a big influence (i.e. it will never be a true cylinder!) on the final tolerance but I am not sure of the magnitude.
Any comments would be appreciated,
