Hi

i wanted nice off shuffer columns with chamfered corners. Now by removing of the formwork i see that the concrete got also few milimeter behind the triangle chamfer strip.

This is quite sharp and not really nice. What is thebest way to remove it now?

Regards

Tom

I bet that with some rotating grinding machine. If you need much perfection you may need to attach it to some guide or guides parallel to the column.

Use a hand-held "concrete rub". It is a grinding stone with a handle on it. Wet the concrete first, then rub vigorously. Works great for corner issues.

BTT...yes, that's it. Works fine.

TO RON:

perfect, didn't know that there are such tools, great.
Does it also work by older concrete or must it be still fresh concrete, right after removing the shuttering

Easier with fresh concrete... it's like a carborendum 'brick' and simply 'sands' the concrete fins away.

BTT...as dik says, it is easier on fresh concrete. Older concrete is more difficult to "sand" down, but if they are small fins, it will work on them as well. For larger, flat areas on older concrete, I would use a "cup grinder" on an electric side grinder tool or use a concrete finishing tool specifically made for grinding concrete.

thanks guys

I found what I wanted new I just need to find out if i get it here in Namibia ???

carborundum stones are used on terrazo floor grinding machines. Terrazo finishing is often done insitu (as opposed to floor tiles) in Africa, hopefully including Namibia. Just buy some of the carborundum stones - but best to use the day after striking the forms.

ok, thanks for the tip I will check
