Is there a way to build a custom property for toolbox components using formulas/variables? (specifically bolts, nuts, washers)

I want "partno" to be a concatenation of nominal diameter, thread pitch, and length.

This will be used to populate our BOM p/n column. We build our BOM using a "partno" custom property.

For Toolbox components I know you can add custom properties (which we've done).

However they need to be manually populated for every component.

Looking for a way to automatically name everything.

You can configure the toolbox (make sure to take a backup) to do that. Simply export the data out as excel, add the properties and import the data back in.

We have our toolbox settings set up to create a new part file for every new toolbox component. The filenames it creates are exactly what you're asking for. That filename is also the default text in the "part no." column of an assembly BOM. We sometimes change that BOM default setting because the workers at the various outside shops that build our equipment for us had no idea that "HX-SHCS 0.19-32x0.625x0.625-N" actually means "SOCKET HEAD CAP SCREW 10-32 X 5/8 FULL THREAD"
