We just installed SW2004. Now, the toolbox does not recognize the database that houses all of the company part numbers that we have assigned to various fasteners. Is there any way to migrate the old (2003) toolbox databases to the new version?

I get an error "Expecting toolbox database version 8.6" or something along those lines when I point the .ini file to the network toolbox library.

The part models (xxx_ai.sldprt, etc) obviously still exist, but assigned part numbers can not be recognized.

Good Luck!

Are you sharing Toolbox? We upgraded one machine and so Toolbox would upgrade also. Then we uninstalled and then a new installation of SW on that machine.

We have since bagged Toolbox and are now using the Feature Pallete.

We create copies of toolbox parts, so that each variation of say a socket head cap screw, is its own entity (file) separate from the toolbox database/library. This can be set under document properties in the browser configurator. This eliminates the issues associated with updating toolbox, because none of our assemblies reference those master files with the method I described. We also use PDM/Works and check those files in so we can, track, search for, and re-use them easily - much like a feature pallete, but on steroids.

Make sure your Toolbox.ini file is reading the correct path. Located under your SW main directory under toolbox file folder.

You should copy your SW03 toolbox files to your new Toolbox location if you have installed SW04 toolbox in it's new location that SW04 puts it in. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Solidworks Data

We just tried to update our toolbox and had a similar experience... Did anyone have any other ideas?
