Hi all,
I am using a Hex bolt(M12x40, 8.8u grade, Hot dip Galvanized) for a structural joint. How can I get torque value for this bolt?

I'm not sure about other codes/standards but in the US structural joints/bolts are not typically assigned a specific torque value. Instead they are brought to a "snug-tight" condition (Full effort of an iron worker using an ordinary spud wrench or a few impacts of an impact gun - see the RCSC for further details). Then, if the joint is slip critical or pretensioned the bolt is pre-tensioned using one of the methods presented in the RCSC, with "turn-of-nut" being one that is spec'd quite often. The RCSC also requires that all pretensioning methods be verified/calibrated using a skidmore.

The RCSC can be found for free, here:

The notations , material , units implies Eurocodes..

The general principle , if the bolts loaded by static loads , should be tightened “snug-tight” (spanner-tight). unless otherwise noted. The snug tight is attained by a person using an ordinary spanner..

and a pink star fuer dauwerda (Structural)..

Tomfh - it's an 8.8 so I would round up to 9 ugga duggas
