Hi All,
I have to design a tubular connection that connects a tubular stub with a Jacket Leg (tubular with thickened part). The tubular stub exerts torsion on the jacket leg (in addition to the axial, and bending moments). As far as I know, according to AP-RP2A-WSD, tubular joint capacity considers axial and bending actions only (no torsional actions are involved).

Is there any suggestion regarding how to consider this torsional moment in the tubular joint connection? (from API or other codes or text books)
Thanks in advance

NORSOK N-004 rev 03 considers the interaction between shear, bending moment and torsion (section 6.3.8.4). Eurocode 1993-1-1 also has some guidelines on this topic (something like applying a reduced yield strength in the combined normal force + bending check if the shear utilization specified for combined torsion and shear force exceeds 50%). ISO19902 does not seem to consider the interaction between shear and normal stresses.

For component with complex stress state, we may calculate the max. normal stess and shear stress and thus combine them to von Mises stress. The von mises streas can then compared with allowable stress.
