Hello Folks,
We are planning to buy and install a "Total Chloride Analyzer" which uses Sensi-Tape technology (CI Analytics). I want some feedback about it's reputation in refining industry. The vendor claims it's been around for 30 years but I personally haven't seen one in action. So if anyone of you has any experience with it please do share it with me. Also if you know any other manufacturer which can detect total chlorides in hydrocarbon stream please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I do not know this unit. In addition to other technologies, paper tape analyzers exist for hydrogen sulfide in natural gas. The chemical specific tapes can be an expensive consumable. A tape for H2S lasts about a month and the humidifyer must be added every two-weeks. Include the tape replacement in your analysis along with the initial cost.

I have seen one. The only question that I would have is concerning relitive sensitivity to different chlorides. Will the results be effected by the species present?

Corrosion never sleeps, but it can be managed.
