Townhouse wind load distribution

In designing a row of townhouses, is the lateral wind load on the end unit applied to each building as if they were separate buildings, or divided among the buildings?

I ran into this situation several times before and have done it both ways. I would first check with your local jurisdiction to see if they have special requirements here for the wind.

However, seismic will still be applicable to each unit individually. That may control the interior units.
