Hi all,
I was hoping I could get some help regarding an issue I'm having at work. We have some injection molded TPU components that we usually bind to silicone. After injection molding, the TPU parts are degreased, then primed with Dow Corning 1200 OS to allow for adhesion to silicone. Lately, we are not getting any adhesion between the TPU and the silicone.
My initial hypothesis is that there are contaminants in the TPU pellets and I have tried a variety of cleaners to get rid of a spectrum of contaminants but we are still getting this issue.
Does anyone have any experience with bonding TPU to silicone and/or have any thoughts as to the root cause of this issue?
Thanks very much.
