I am new to the ABAQUS software and aim to do a 2d analysis on the debonding behaviour of restored teeth. I am using abaqus CAE 6.6. Can someone help me on what is the next step to do? I drawn the parts, den I assemble them, set up the boundary conditions.

Do i set up the master slave contact for every parts next? Or do I use tie instead? or together? the finer meshed part should be master right?

Question is, how do I set up the traction separation thingy using abaqus CAE 6.6? I define the material properties, assign the section, set up the max stress, strain criteria. den do I have to mesh the section with cohesive elements? I tried reading the whole abaqus manual but it seems pretty vague. The examples dun seem to be updated as well.... I tried to mesh the cement as cohesive elements but it keeps replying that only the sweep algorithm is supported for cohesive elements..

For the traction separation, do i have to draw a separate part for the interface? like dentin, interface, cement? or can i use assign traction separation properties to cement? what are the things I should do to set up the debonding behaviour usg abaqus CAE?

There was a similar post but what what mentioned was using the keywords and such. Is there anyway I can use abaqus CAE 6.6 to achieve the same results?

Thank you all for taking time off to read this lengthy post.

Try looking through the following thread from last year (it contains some tips for cohesive element modeling for a tooth) Make sure you read my posts (brep) as some of the other replies were going off track. There's even an example python script attached...

The CAE-based modeling aspects using cohesive elements are described in
ABAQUS/CAE User's Manual-> 21.1 Modeling adhesive joints and bonded interfaces

Thank you very much. Do I actually use the traction separation or is the seam / crack module enough to simulate the behaviour?

I am trying to get a test run of things, but i kep getting this

"degree of 6 is not active in this model and can not be restrained."

How do i rectify this? Thank you all very much for the kind advice
