Hello,
I have a part document template I want to apply to a new part
that was not created with the template above....
Anybody can give me a hint on how to "transfer" part template into new part?

Thank you.

Thank you very much Limey.
That's exactly what I need :)

Oops! .... I was assuming my problem was solved.
mac_copydoc.zip is a Excell spreadsheet and I do not know how to run it, sorry.
The other macro I found works only on drawing templates ....

Open the Excel file, click on the Description tab and read the Short explanation details.

My apologies to you. That Excel file also only works on drawings apparently. I thought that was the one which worked on alldoc' types. I will have to dig deeper.

[cheers]

I just checked , as you said, it does not work on drawings.
Please let me know if you find anything that would do that.

I have some custom set properties set in the part template like
Part Name, Material Usage that has to be edited manually later on and few others.
All I need is to copy the settings from the template to show in the copied part .... sounds simple, doesn't it :)

Thank you , I will try it over the weekend and let you know how it worked.

Andrzej

My macro actually have a method for you to do this:

You'll need to mod the code to apply to your custom properties, then use the copy properties function when you run it. This is the only macro I know that copies custom properties from one doc to another on-the-fly.

Also, has a macro that can copy properties from one file to another, even in a batch process.

Matt ... I don't believe arb65912 needs to copy the Custom or Config' Specific Properties. He's wanting to copy the Document Properties and/or System Options as available from the Tools > Options section. ie. the document template settings rather than the component properties.

[cheers]

I was just going by "Part name". Normally this is a property and not a setting. Material can be a setting, but it also often a property instead.

Oh Geez, I completley missed that post. In that case I don't know what is wanted, where it is or who's on first. [lol]

If they are straightforward custom or config props, they should be copied over when the template or component is copied. Unless some strange copying procedure has been used.

[cheers]

I am sorry guys, maybe my description of the problem was not clear....

OK, I have a part template let's call it GoodTemplate which has some Configurations specific and Custom properties set in it.
I created partB which is a copy of part A.
Part A was created using some template that I do not care about.
I want part B to have Configuration Specific and Custom Properties same as GoodTemplate.

I hope I described it better what I am looking for.

Sorry for the confusion again.

Andrzej

Thank you Limey,

I will check this out ASAP and I will let you know how it went.

CorBlimeyLimey,

It did work.
Thank you again.
