I am currently working on a transverse section analysis using SAP. However I noticed that the shear at the overhang is extremely high and I checked my loading many times. I guess my question, does AASHTO provide guidance for transverse shear design? I looked up couple of examples and I noticed that what is actually implemented is the shear design along the longitudinal direction.

Thank you!

Have you checked the "Post Tensioned Box Girder Design Manual" by the U.S. Department of Transport? Chapter 8 deals with Transverse Design.

Yes I did. And I noticed they used the full depth of the transverse beam. I was concerned about the sections that make up the transverse beam for example like the overhang, the top slab etc.
