Can someone tell me why a large majority of design company preference electrical winch over hydraulic winch in fishing vessels?

Because hydraulic fluid (from inevitable leaks) tastes lousy.

This i know.
Also we do not need power pack that takes space. People don't need so much experience in electrical equipment. Towing power in hyrdaulic and electrical equipment is now almost the same.

it's apparent electric is preferred. fishing vessels don't have a room for power packs or hydraulic aggregates units, hydraulic lines, etc for hydraulic winches that complicates the installation space and maintenance issue, however; the latter simply motor and cable laid on deck, straightforward and simple. that's it

laying an electrical wire on a fishing boat is a bad idea. Proper marine construction would call for running the conduit under deck and up through a penetration in the way of the motor.

Hydraulic systems have more components and require more expertise to operate than finding a bad wire or changing out a bad motor, but one of the main reasons for an electric system is that an oil spill can cause up to a $50,000 dollar fine from USCG
