if you know and have access to Promax why do not use it ?
moving to a different software requires time, you should read the operating manual, spend some days (or weeks) to familiarize with tutorials, examples etc. test and validate results etc. etc.
You may decide to use different simulators such as Aspen, Promax, Prode (just to mention a few) but do not forget that, as engineer, you are responsible for the results...
I assume you are a engineer since student's posts are not allowed here...

apeti - if you know the answer why not give it?

MortenA,
the answer is in the second line of my post and precisely,
"you should read the operating manual, spend some days (or weeks) to familiarize with tutorials, examples etc. test and validate results etc. etc."
as said, I assume it's not a student's post (not allowed here) and I do not know companies wishing to accept projects from engineers without good knowledge of the software used for simulation...
May be you have a different point of view.

dear aperti
im an engineer but actually im phd student and im working on a project...not to a company!!!! working with promax is my favorite but since promax 2 is not able to simulate piperazine or mixed solvents such as m-sulfinol and so on... and i just have promax 2, so i have to use another software to do that, beside that i know my responsibilites so it is not neccessary anybody remind it to me.

you did not mention it was a old version of Promax, last versions include Piperazine ...
anyway have you read the manual and the examples provided in last versions of Aspen ?
I assume you know that the value to enter for efficiency depends from selected correlation, you can work with ideal or real stages, some papers suggest for Murphree a value about 33% but, again, it depends from application...

i know that last versions can do this...but there is not a way for me to access those versions, so i have to try hysys
anyway thanks for your attention
