Trim Body Error

Greetings:

I have a trim body issue that I'm hoping someone can help boost me along. Attached is a picture of the issue. Basically, we have a mandrel that our part sets on. The part has been redesigned, and now I'm using the new part geometry to create a trim body in order to trim the mandrel. When I go to Trim Body, I get an error: The tool and target do not form a complete intersection or have a touch condition which will result in a region with zero wall thickness.

Does anyone have advice on steps that I can take to fix the trim body. Note: In the lower right corner of the picture, there is a boss that is close to the edge, and its geometry is not completely uniform. I've tried optimizing and extending. Not sure if this is my issue or not.

Thanks in advance,

Brent

Do both the sheet and solid pass geometry checks without self intersecting surfaces?

Try to narrow down where the problem is. First thing I try is an intersection curve set between the sheet and the solid body. if there are open contours it can be from the sheet not completely going through the body or a self intersecting surface.

Another thing to try is using a plane try trimming away half of the solid, then using the sheet to trim like normal. If this succeeds revere the plane trim and try again. Usually one or the other fails. Keep moving the plane until the area of failure gets smaller.

multicaduser - thank you for the reply. Much appreciated. I actually found the problem. Two areas of my geometry that I extracted, I thought were lines, when zooming in closer, I found that these were actually small bodies that I was not originally including in my trim body. Once I brought those in, it trimmed just fine. Thanks again.
