Hi,

I was wondering if anyone on this forum has experience of truck wheel loss.

I am doing research into truck wheel loss in the UK, and was wondering what problems occur in America, the measures taken to reduce the problem, and the standards covering wheel fitment / stud & nuts.

All help would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

I recommend reading the following journal article:

R. G. Baggerly, "Hydrogen-assisted stress cracking of high-strength wheel bolts", Engineering Failure Analysis, volume 3, number 4 (1996), pages 231-240.

Mr. Baggerly was employed with PACCAR (company that produces Kenworth, Peterbuilt, DAF, and Leyland trucks), and it provides good information on this subject.

Here are some Internet sites with related information:

You can find a lot of information by using Google and the keywords "truck wheel loss"
