Bad cutting Quality
cutting 1/2" C1010 material ......1.4 Nozzle Parts weldet into the sheet

cutting 3/8 same material no problem
also 5/8-1" A36 no problem

even tried to cut with a 1.7 ....little better ??
any suggestions ?
all externals and internal Mirror cleaned,Alligned and the Powershot was 3900 at the Head

does it sound like a thermal problem ??

You probably did but did'nt mention and its very important: did you check the laser gas mix? You may have one of your 3 gas bottles contaminated, of poor quality (not 99,998) or maybe just running empty.

If all of this is ok, can you verify your milltest for quality of the material? Does it cut ok with other material? Do you have good table ground? How is your mode?
 
If your mode looks good from the head of the laser, it may be your 90 deg phase shift mirror. Typically this is the last mirror before the beam hits the lens. Also make sure you have a fairly decent (clean/new) lens.

Since you listed that the parts were welding into the sheet, I would guess that this is just a set up problem.

Try this, get a solid setup on a piece of 3/8" thk material. Then try this wit a piece of 1/2" reduce your feed rate by 10 - 20 % and increase your power by about 10 %. The most important things to consider are your gas flow and focal point. The focus point of the beam should be right on or a little bit above the material. The nozzle orifice should be between 1.8 and 2 mm in diameter. The last time I looked the recommended gas flow was between .5 and 1 bar.

The other key thing to watch (if you can) would be the bottom of the plate while the machine is cutting. You should have a solid stream of material following the cut. Manually adjust settings until you get just the right balanced reaction.

Thanks for all the suggestions....ended up replacing the OC/Rear and all Externals....since they where a year old
