Dear All,

I have a welding question about tubesheet to shell welding affairs.
As my attached sketch, I would like confirm the welding shape whether defined a corner joint?

Question 2, the welding shape whether accepted by ASME VIII Div.1?

UW 13.2 of ASME SEC. VIII DIV 1 indicates various configurations for flat plates to pressure parts.
the configuration which u have shown does not fall under that category.

I understand that tubesheet has a lip of height 3 mm which is not at all sufficient to carry out radiography. lip height shall be more than 19 mm.

in nut shell, the configuration is not as per ASME SEC VIII DIV1

ChiangJaron, what is the callout for the backside of the joint?

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

SnTMan,

The description that welding for first layer shall be GTAW welding progress.

ChiangJaron, thanks. Unusual detail, but in my opinion it could be considered a corner joint similar to Fig. UW-13-2(h). As such it would need to meet the "a + b >= 2ts" rule, with b = 0, and conditions on dimension "c". As per General Note (a) and UW-13(e)(3) & (4).

I see it as one of those "details not shown are not prohibited" situations.

Regards,

Mike

What NDT will be carried out for this joint?

for 212197

The NDT only request by client to perform PT inspection after welding.
