Talking about open spray nozzles, for deluge systems, used as protection from fire exposure and controlling fires on vessels.

I´ve seen on literature from sprinkler manufacturers (Gem, Viking, etc.) that there there basically two types of open spray nozzles with filled cone patterns:

-nozzles has water droplets with medium velocities (these are similar to a sprinkler with an "umbrella" deflector) (Exampel Gem: D3,Viking:E),
-nozzles with velocity that go from medium to high (these are more complex and have an internal vortex deflector (Example; GEM: Mulsifyer).

From what I´ve seen, the first type is more easy to use since you can choose from several K factors and cone angles, but the other has a angles and K factor for each model and I think are more expensive and suitable to get clogged.

I want to know which are better for the protection of outdoor oil filled transformers. Any other hint or information on the selection of nozzles will be appreciated.
