There are number of activities, which normally being perform in pre-commissioning of pipelines. Typical activities are cleaning, de-watering and drying.
Typical pipeline de-watering includes following steps (Not in particular order):
1. De-water pigs depends on pipeline length, diameter and configuration
2. Air compressor should be able to run pig at speed by 1.6kph (kilo miles per hour)
3. There might be possible surge due to compressed air travel
4. Series of pigs to send through the pipeline by compressed air to swab all water
5. Pipeline outlet should be fitted with valve to complete shut off or throttle to regulate the water discharge
6. Drying the water after de-watering pipeline like "Vacuum Drying"

And your question is???

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

"able to run pig at speed by 1.6kph (kilo miles per hour)" ????

@LittleInch - It was an article to share my knowledge about de-watering Pipeline after hydrostatic Test

@Compositepro - That is the speed of cleaning pig for de-watering after hydrostatic test. This is industry practice. Less speed more affective de-watering.

I think that this reply was intended for the other pipeline dewatering thread “Drying Method of Pipeline”.
