UG-32 or Appendix 1-4? 3

Hello,

Looking at calculation reports for thicknesses of pressure vessels formed heads, some people refer to UG-32 and others to Appendix 1-4 : formulas used for the design of formed heads under internal pressure.
Appendix 1-4 says that paragraphs 1-4's equations provide for the design of formed heads of proportions other than those given in UG-32. I'm unsure how to understand the limits of UG-32 and when should I use appendix 1-4.
The difference in thicknesses calculated (torispherical in my case) is less dimensioning with appendix 1 than in UG-32.

Regarding torispherical heads, UG-32d only applies to standard heads which have knuckle radius=6% inside crown radius. That condition is written right above the equation.

In your case, if it is not 6%, it's a non-standard head and Appendix 1-4 should be used.
