In UG-NX2, how can we set type for an attribute. The
type selection list shows by default "string" and it is
greyed out so we can not change it to some other type.

Basically I want to add an attribute of the type date
[or date\time if it is possible]. There is already an
attribute of this kind [creation and modification time]
but how to create it??

Any suggestions or links will be very helpful.

Thanks,
Amit

You can only add string attributes to the file (you can add any type of attributes to entities in the file).

If you look at the properties of the file, it should show you creation and modification times and dates (your OS should take care of this). Or, you can open the file and look at the part history.

Thanks cowski. I am new to UG so can you tell me what
do you meant by entities and how to add attributes to
them.

[Actually I am not even a CAD user, i just need to know
all this related to a application my company is
developing]

An entity is any object in the cad file -- a point, curve, sheet body, solid body, etc. You can add attributes to entities through the edit menu (edit -> properties). You can also add them programatically through grip or open C++. If you are using NX3 you should also be able to add them with the new journaling macro language (VB), though I have not had a chance to experiment with that yet.

Ok Cowski. I will look into it. Thanks again.
