has anyone tried NX3 on a 64 bit computer, if so, is it faster and by how much ?
Our IT gal tried to get NX3 running on one but couldn't manage it, so we don't know if we require a different licence, or different system discs, or if she just did something wrong !!

I hope people are not purchasing 64-bit hardware with the expectations that this means that they will run NX, or ANY application for that matter, faster than what they would have gotten with a similiarly configured 32-bit machine. If so, you'll probably be disappointed. The significance of running on a 64-bit system will be the ability to deal with larger models due to the removal, for all intents and purposes, of the limit to the amount of memory that can be addressed when large assemblies are loaded.

but should we still be able to load NX3 with the existing software and licence, or are they different ?

Yes, you can load 32-bit versions of NX, including NX 3, on 64-bit Windows machines. However, while you will get access to more addressable memory, it will still be limited to around 4gb (twice the normal amount on 32-bit systems and 1gb more than when using the extended memory option on 32-bit Windows systems) and you will need to install the full 64-bit version of NX (available starting with NX 4) to go beyond the 4gb limitation. Also, no special licensing is needed.
