UG won't default to the default

Has anyone else experienced losing your customer default and load options on NX3 for no apparent reason? I've just about given up on keeping the customer defaults, but today I also lost my load options. Easy fix, but it is something I shouldn't have to do. The part files are kept on a network, but everything UG is local. I have not yet loaded the latest update.

It's working fine so far this morning.
The load option problem seemed to start during/after a net meeting (using WebEx). I opened the part that was a subject of the meeting while my computer was connecting to the meeting. Guess I won't do that again!

Your load options are only for the session. Once you get out of UG they reset. And I am finding out that the customer defaults are acting the same.

The load options may be per session, but these were those saved to the UGII/load_options.def file. The strange thing is that a new .def file was created in the same directory as the last opened part without my trying to save it.
I gave up trying to set the customer defaults.
No problems yet today...

Gladwin,

That's fairly typical behavior if you want to constantly change your defaults each time you start NX. However, Eric is SAVING his defaults (both load options and customer defaults) and they are not being set as he has saved them, which is NOT typical behavior.

Eric,

I would call GTAC and at least log this occurence with them. I've yet to move beyond NX2 as of yet & am currently not looking forward to migrating to NX3 because of all things that are flat out not working right, which seems to be more & more common with newer releases of NX. Not sure where UGS' head is at, but I'm beginning to believe it's in a small, dark & smelly place. Until the users start voicing their displeasure with the current product, we're all going to see the headaches start multiplying.

Tim,
I will take a moment today and call this in. I agree that we have to let them know how their product is performing (and find out what I may have done to contribute to any problem). Overall I am satisfied with NX3. Other than some nuisance problems such as this (and feature patterning of course), I haven't come across any show stoppers.
Eric

I usually don't come across any show stoppers either and up until just the last few months was pretty happy with the NX series. The lack of show stoppers is probably more due to NX being a hybrid modeler with many different methods that can accomplish the same thing.

However, I have experienced some disturbing differences within the same genre of functions. Like with Extrude, I can sometimes get different results when extruding a planar face versus extracting the edges or extracted curves (from same face edges). The post I made on BBS Notes about the chamfer is another issue that even does the same thing in CATIA v5. I also found out that Offset Face can screw up and offset the wrong face in a Mirror feature from time to time. Those sorts of things really get under my skin, not to mention my uphill battle trying to get a freaking associative body array added.

Just on edge lately & pretty much fed up with what I consider poor excuses from UGS. They really do not have any clue how much easier my working life (as well as many, many others) would be if they would just listen to the users. Maybe we should start paying our maintenance in pennies in order to comparitively demonstrate the inconveniences we sometimes have to go through due to their stubborness.
