This may seem very basic but really... it's not. <g>

When defining a closed boundary for say a simple box, UG is not logical in how "First Member" functions. How does one change which side of a simple 4 sided closed profile the tool starts. Whether you choose Face or Curve/Edges the result is UG decides which side to start and it's hard to change.

It determines the starting point by where you pick on the line/edge that makes up your boundry. At least that is the algorithm that I was taught when I learned UG CAM.

"Wildfires are dangerous, hard to control, and economically catastrophic."
"Fixed in the next release" should replace "Product First" as the PTC slogan.

Ben,

You would think that where you start picking is the "first member". But, that only works for open boundarys. Closed is not so. It seems to always favor the longest curve as the engage location. Changing "First Member" seems to only change the engage to a side opposite from the origional. Even then it is not consistant. My workaround for me has always been break it up into two paths. I can't believe it does not work as designed because it's really a pain with large selections. Btw, It's the same with NX from what I hear.

I like you have been frozen on v18 with no tech support so... thought I'd throw it out there.

As it turns out, using "control points" (just like we use for pocketing or area milling) does just what it's supposed to. Select a point on the curve or edge and boom... there it starts. That said, I don't see the need for "first member".
