Is it possible to add dimension tolerances into sketch at the model level in NX2 rather than doing this at drafting level

I like to pull my dimensions into drawings from my models

Im USED to other packages that let me do this and im afraid its become a habit

in later versions of NX im seeing PMI so am I correct in thinking the PMI annotations must be able to hold tolerance information

thanks folks

You can't do this in NX 2, but starting in NX 4 you can added tolerances and regular appended text as well as make several other 'drafting' like edits to the 'apperance' of a sketch 'dimension'. However, these additional items play no role in the Sketcher itself and are only there for completness and informational sake. However, if you do this, the added text does not automatically resize itself as the viewing scale of the sketch changes so if you do add these 'extras' to your Sketch dimensions, you'll probably want to toggle 'OFF' the 'Fixed Text Height' option under Preferences -> Sketch...

Who says I'm "giving my time for free"? ;-)

I draw a paycheck twice a month and one of my 'roles' in the UGS organization is trying to help make sure our customers are aware of what some of the new stuff is that's coming in NX and how they may be able to benefit from it. This forum is just one of several settings where I have an opportunity to do just that.

So while I appreciate your thanks, please don't feel that your questions, or anyone elses for that matter, are being answered as if they were some sort of favor. Our company truly desires that all of our customers are successful and while we can't always give you the answers that some of you are looking for, we do try to tell it like it is and to communicate what we've learned back to the product developers and their management team so that we can try to address the issues that are important to our clients. Of course, this, or any other public forum, are not the only means that we employe in trying to accomplish this, but because it's topical and often contains candid comments and observations, it's well worth the time that I, and others in our company who also perform similar roles, spend answering questions and on occasion, even asking some of our own.

Anyway, keep letting us know what you think and when you need some issues explained or questions answered, please feel free, just as long as you understand that while we'll always try to be accurate and candid with you, that we can't always resolve all of your concerns, but we'll try.

So again, thank you.

ugsnx2,
This would be a good question for a new thread rather than tacking it to the end of an unrelated discussion.

Also, when you start a new thread some more information would be useful: what are you coding in, grip? open c++? a macro?
