Hi,
I work for a Swedish company, and we are currently developing our first product, an electric personal watercraft (PWC).
Our PWC uses a batterypack as a power supply. Currently, we are looking to build this ourselvs. But we would like to save costs on the battery charger, and would prefer to purchase one from i.e. China and just repackage that. I've been looking at various standards for chargers and I'm a bit confused when it comes to UL. As far as I'm able to see the only UL standard that could apply to us is UL 2202.
I've been looking at TC chargers. These carry CE, ISO/TS 16949:2009 and ISO9001:2008 certifications. They are - as described by the manufacturer - classed as on board chargers. What we want to do is to put it in its own seperate box and use it as an off board unit. Would it be possible to do that and class it as an off board, even though the charging unit itself is classed as on board?
Are there any other specific UL standards (and others) that we should be aware of?
Thanks for reading, and have a great day,
/V
