When specifying my node adjustments for UMESHMOTION, I wish to extract data from an existing file (lookup table) and apply that to the given nodes. Is there a command that will let me open a file and use the data in it?

Hello I am also trying to develop a subroutine using UMESHMOTION. Maybe we can help each other out? Can you explain a little more about the problem description?

I am applying the Archard wear formula to prescribe the distance to adjust the nodes during the UMESHMOTION subroutine. The wear depth is the product of the contact pressure, sliding distance, and a wear coefficient. The contact pressure and sliding distance are pulled from the .dat file. I'm trying to pull the wear coefficient values from another file but I'm having trouble calling the file.

Very interesting, I am also looking at a very simular problem, having a tough time with writing the subroutine also. I have been through the tyre wear example in the abaqus exmaple manual which uses UMESHMOTION, you could look there to see if that helps you. Perhaps we could collaborate more on this as I have only found a hand full of people looking at this specific problem problem in this way. But I don't know if thats really appropriate way to progress the thread on the forum.
