Hello all,

This might seem like a very basic question, but I'm unable to flip the sketch orientation after a sketch has been created.

These are the steps to recreate the problem:

1. Start with a blank default part
2. Create a sketch on XZ plane of default coordinate system (checkmark for create intermediate datum csys and associative origin, sketch orientation is horizontal)
3. Click OK
4. Finish the sketch
5. Edit the created sketch
6. Start the Reattach sketch command
7. Double click the normal sketch axis the flip it
8. Double click the vertical sketch axis to flip it
9. Press OK

As you can see, this did NOT change the sketch orientation the way it was intended.
See the attached image where the problem happens.
Note that the problem ONLY happens with the Reattach sketch command, there is no problem changing the orientation with the Create sketch dialog.

I just tried this using NX 8.5.3.1 (1st Phase of the next Maintenance Release) and it works just fine, the 'vertical' axis is pointing 'UP'.

Don't forget you need to use the "right-hand rule" when flipping your axis. When you flip one of the axis, one of the other two will flip too.

jerry1423, that is not an issue, because when you flip any axis in the Reattach sketch dialog, the other axis' will automatically adjust themselves. The problem is, the result after clicking OK in the Reattach sketch dialog is not the same as the "preview" when the Reattach sketch dialog is open.

I've found a workaround to this problem, it is as follows:

1. In the Reattach sketch dialog you must first re-select the SAME sketch plane (even though it is already selected!)
2. Flip the normal sketch axis.
3. Flip the horizontal sketch axis.
4. Click OK

Now the sketch orientation is the way it's intended with the vertical sketch axis pointing upwards.
