I have a new project that I am working on. It is a very large weldment approx. 100" x 75" x 40" tall.
it is flat on the bottom an curved on the top (almost like a upside down canoe).
I have to make panels and then bend them to the various contours of my part.
We have customer supplied models, what i would like to do is unbend these parts and make
them flat so i can cut the profiles in our water jet machine.
I cant seem to unbend these models?
any suggestions?

Thanks

Use "Sheet metal from Solid" option to convert it into sheet metal. Then try Unbend command.

no luck, it wont allow me to pick the bent part?

Remember that the sheetmetal package is designed for press brake straight line bending. It is not designed to work were the manufacturing process is a rolling type of operation.

You can trick it, depending on the curvature of the part.

I can find the convert to sheet metal
but not the wizzard
mine looks a bit different than your example
I am on nx8.0.1.5
but still no luck.
ahhhhh

thanks

I am not aware about old versions, I just started with NX 10. ok here's what I can do, if that's not problem for you, if there are few parts and you just need them to be flattened down, send them to me. That's all I can help.

I think i got it. i am using flat solid.

I really appreciate the offer to flatten my parts, but my shop does not allow me to send files.

you have been very helpful though surinderbirdi, i will let you know!
