Hi,

I have recently had some Cam pulleys made for my Subaru impreza.

I send the company that made my pulleys old bakerlight injection moulded ones to copy.

When i recieved my new ally ones back they had a 3mm undercut next to the flange that was all turned in one piece.

When i asked why they had done this they said because it is no possible to G/cut to the face of the job.

Is this true and will it cause any problems with wear on the belt?
thanks Chris

hi
they are correct to say "its not possible to gear cut to the face of the job". Most machines do require a undercut to allow for the cutter to pull out of its cut.

hi,

thanks for the reply- would it cause any problems?

i think the belt is about 40mm long and there is a 3mm gap then the flange.

cheers

hi
it should'nt cause any problems but im not sure maybe someone else can be more helpful, why could they not screw the flange on after they cut the gear seeing as the flange is only there as a guide then there would be no undercut.

Hi,
Because the sample was made on bakerlite and it was injection moulded- so they had to make a copy of that, the job had a large Rad on it so it wasn't possible to bolt or roll flange's on.

thanks very much for your help
