I am working with a builder for a Tilt Wall office / wharhouse. The walls will be 6" thick by 21 ft tall.
Is there any problems in putting a standrad Uni-Strut in the form before pouring concrete.
I notice that steel plates are in the form to be welded on during the tilt up / construction stage so will adding more steel hurt?
I was thinking of using strut 24" long spaced 24" apart on the upper side of the inside facing wall. and on one section about 5' to mount the main electric service.
I can even weld tangs / tee's on the Uni-strut channel to "Bite" into the concrete.
I know the prep & masking may be a pain but for me it will be worth it in the end.

If it can be done it will save on time for instalation of conduit, A.C. etc.

Thanks

The code specifically allows inserts and embeds up to 1/3 the depth of the section. They may be used as structural reinforcement if they are properly considered.

It depends on the detail. The embed in the surface will likely reduce your effective depth. You have a slender wall already, so the detail is more significant.

Have your engineer review the embeds. The wall analysis will consider the detail properly. Due to the advantage of these inserts, the engineer would adjust the panel thickness to allow them if they don't work in a composite fashion.
