Unistrut's spring/channel nuts 1

Has anyone here ever used Unistrut's spring/channel nuts? (See link at the end.) I really don't get some of the callouts....the "general specifications" page gives bolts sizes like 1/4"-20. Not sure what that means.

Also, I assume that torque is what has to be called out in order to achieve that slip resistance? (I.e. in the design loads table.)

I have not used that product. But I'm guessing the 1/4"-20 is a 1/4" diameter fastener with 20 threads per inch. More of a general purpose fastener than anything we would typically consider "structural". And yes, the torque looks like the measurable quantity...which is always dubious.

As pham said, 1/4-20 is just a 1/4” bolt with coarse threads (UNC) which is standard for structural bolts used in construction.

The channel nuts are available for multiple bolt sizes, but 1/2” most commonly used in my experience. Check out the “Design Loads” section of the page you linked for allowable loads and required installation torque.

Also check out page 5a.1 of this document (Link) for an example of how you might specify the channel nut.

While we are on the light-gauge topic.....another question: is the "pull-over" value AISI gives also ok for prying type action? I ask because AISI uses the terms (seemingly) interchangeably at times.
