Hello all,

Somebody knows which are the units of the kinetic energy if use milimeters (mm) like length? ¿mJ or J???

another question:
CFORCE is a force by length unit? -->(N/mm)??

Please, help me.

Depends on the unit system u used in your model. If used

mm for length
sec for time
tons for weight

then the energy is given in Nmm, which is mJ (milli Joule)

Abaqus has no built in unit system.

CFORC is contact force per area. The area must be defined in the model. Default is 1.

Pardon sounding picky, but shouldn't this be:

mm for length
sec for time
TONNES (metric) for weight

then the energy is given in Nmm, which is mJ (milli Joule)

Cheers,

thanks very much PamCrash and Drej

I do not know very clearly that CFORCE is a force per area and that I must define previously this area. In my problem, I have two solids (a rectangular plate and a impactor) that makes contact after dropping to the impactor from certain height. I have defined the superior surface of the plate and the inferior one of the impactor with the Module --->Interaction in Abaqus /Explicit.
Is this sufficient one? I must define something more?

Thanks in advance, Irene Mengual

Cforce seems to be a single load, I consulted the manual. Sorry I mixed it up with gap element contact between nodes. Here the area is required.
