Upgrading a bystronic computer on a bystar

my computer keeps crashing. I want to take the rack mount computer out and replace it with a desktop. Does anybody know how to do this. Ive heard its been done.

Why replace the rackmount? The chassis is highly unlikely to be the cause of the crashes, unless there is a grounding issue. Just gut it out and replace the components within the rackmount chassis.

the whole computer in general is junk we replaced 3 under warranty in two years. if you want to buy one from them there about $5,000 and theres not even $5,000 in parts in those computer

No experience with Bystar, did they ever say what failed under warrantee? I would want to know. Maybe they are using inferior components. Or maybe there is an issue with spikes/surges coming in through the AC mains or peripherals (poor system design or specific wiring fault with your system), if this is the case then chances are whatever you replace their PC with will fail too. At a minimum, use a high quality surge supressor or voltage stabilizer/supressor for the PC.

Are there proprietary peripheral expansion cards or backplane within Bystar's PC that makes it so expensive?

I am currently building up my own custom 5 axis CO2/Excimer laser CNC system for my company. I typically use Axiom industrial chassis, when fully populated the cost was around $1200 (2.4GHz P4 CPU, 512M Ram, 40G hard drive, CD burner, floppy, NIC, 32M graphics, 350W supply)

Hopefully someone else will reply who has experience with Bystars.

there are two cards that are specialy made for the computer the fiber optic card that commicate with the machine and the card that runs a special key board with hot keys. Are computer guy says the problem with upgrading to regular desktop is the slots are differnt in desktop. As for why they are breaking bystronic does not have a ansewer there solution is just buy another computer. We talked to a few shops that have done this upgrade and they said they have not had any problems since they've done this upgrade. The only problem is we cant get enough imformation from these shops on what to do and also they havent figure out how to keep the key board with the hot keys and we want to keep using that key board.

Is your computer DOS, Win95, win2000?

We've been dealing with this problem on our Bystar 3015 and we found that the vibration coming from the AC that is mounted on the panelPC is why electronic boards are failing. We just isolated the AC from the panel with thick vibration absorbing foam and it never happened again. Its been trouble free for 3 years now.

So, buy new cpu, isolate AC, and never look back...
