Dear All,

I am designing a Curtain wall (Mullion and Transom system) . Contractor has to do mock up testing for curtain wall. Now testing company asking Seismic/racking Displacement value for Curtain wall. as per project specification its return only 3.5 Cycles for horizontal racking . SO what should I reply to testing person. Shall I need to give him allowable drift limit with No of cycles . Please comment this is first time for me in facade and curtain wall system. please share if some one is having racking test materiel.

Sounds like you need to get the drift criteria from the engineer of record. Alternatively, you may be able to use the maximum allowable in ASCE 7 (or whatever code governs the seismic design). If you are designing a curtain wall with ASCE 7-10, see section 13.5.9 for additional requirements.

While the testing is ongoing... should do a smoke test, too, and find out if it's leaking.

Engineer of record will have to supply the drift in mm at the location the curtainwall is fixed.

dik - if they are running seismic racking tests, they are certainly doing water tests. not sure what you mean by a smoke test.
