Im reviewing a design for an 800H/HT vessel designed acc VIII-1. B16.9 straight tee's as per SB366 are required in 800H (WPNIC10) for the vessel. Theyre not listed in sect II-D. Pipe, flanges etc. are listed though, as is SB366 800 (WPNIC), hence are allowed to be used.

The vessels outlet pipe spool is designed acc. B31.3, and has the same size and main MoC (800H/HT). Appendix A of B31.3 lists B366 800H/HT tee's as per B16.9.

Could someone (maybe a commiittee member) point me the reason, if any, why section VIII-1 does not allow SB366 800H/HT fittings, e.g. tee's? I know there a several differences between VIII-1 and B31.3

Any thoughts on this query?

I checked myself and I would guess that there was not a request submitted to incorporate the fittings product form for stress lines in Section II, Part D. I will check code cases for the 800H/800HT.

Hi metengr. I think Ive checked all code cases, from what I remember none of them was about this issue.
What would you propose to do to get these fittings in VIII-1? Write a code case?

XL83NL;
You need to submit a code case for incorporating fittings from SB 366 in Section II, Part D, Table 1B. This would involve Section II and Section VIII, Div 1 code committees to approve.
