Dear All,

I am after some general advice on Alimak information and how many people have used these for tray revamps. We are considering the use of one for a revamp of a 150 trayed column.

At the momenet we are finding alimaks are typically used for the construction industry (ie buildings) not chemical plants but i know that they have been used. The tray installer has used them but is unwilling to take on the management of the alimak process. Now:
Becase we are revamping an old column we dont have all the orginal information on the column to complete the stress loads.

Our first pass(by the civals group) suggested that the alimak could not be tied on to the side of a column but there are a muitmude of options. The hardest factor for us is knowing what other people have done. So specifically,

Is using an Alimak a pain on old columns ?
Have you ever planned an Alimak use and found that it was simply not possible?
Or is there always a ways to support the unit ?
To contacting companys use them for major oil refinary projects? so should we ask them for a consulting service ?

Any comments or suggestions welcome.

Jim
