Scenario:
Creating a side view of a plate with holes in it. The holes go straight through the plate. The holes are fully dimensioned in the top view.

Question:
Is it necessary to draw (create) centerlines for the holes in the side view?

Back to the OP.

I'm not even sure which standard you'd look for this in. Doesn't sound like a 14.5 type of thing, not in 14.3 either.

I go with ewh rule of thumb that clarity is king, if they are needed for some reason, put them on. If they just add clutter then leave them off. In a case where they aren't clutter but aren't really needed, I'd lean toward leaving them off just to save a little effort, though it may be more traditionally correct to put them in in this case.

KENAT,

Have you reminded yourself of faq731-376 recently, or taken a look at posting policies: What is Engineering anyway: faq1088-1484
