Use of FEA in Sec VIII Div 1?

Hi all,
Is Finite Element Analysis an acceptable design solution per ASME Section VIII Div 1? Or is it permissbile only for use with Div 2 / 3 by a PE?

sp231, FEA is often used in Div. 1, as long as everbody, especially the AI, buys in.

It is acceptable only in the context of U-2(g). It cannot over-rule a mandatory requirement of the Code.
