Use of SI equations and convention to US units - or direct use of US equations in API code 1

Throughout API code US and SI equations are available.
Often the answers derived from one or the other will not be exactly the same.

My question is: what does API code say concerning the use of one set of equations (say SI) and then converting to US units.
I'm unable to find any API code specifying if such use and conversions are allowable.

I think the intent is to work entirely with one set or the other. That should be stated somewhere in there.

While I appreciate that - I'm looking for actual language in the code that supports that idea.
I can't go to my boss and say... "it should say that somewhere.."
Can't seem to find any API code specifying as much.
