Uses for 0 Temper Aluminum Plate

I have recently purchased a lot of 0 temper aluminum plate in 7075 and 6061 alloys. These are 12" thick plates. I am trying to find out what the end use was on these would have been. These were bought at a government surplus... so no mill test certificates. Also, how would I go about getting these plates certified for use by an outside lab, which tests would I have to perform, chemical analysis, ultrasonic testing??, etc. Also, my original intention was to have these cut into 6" x 6" bars for stock, but I am having a hard time getting anyone who can use the 0 temper. Would I be able to heat treat these plates without getting internal cracks or stress in them? Any suggestions?

The O temper is fully annealed to allow for (relatively) high formability. The uses would be for formed parts, e.g. hot forgings for the transportation industries.

Certification: chemical analysis, mechanical properties, maybe non-destructive inspection. I would check ASTM and AMS standards.

These alloys are frequently sold in the quenched and artificially aged condition (T6) for use as machining stock. Yes, you could have the material heat treated without cracks; without stress would be difficult and mostly unnecessary as long as they met requirements for chemical and mechanical properties.

I seem to remember reading that 6061 naturally age hardens to about T4 condition (can't find a reference now). I'm not sure how long this takes if it's true but if these have been hanging around a while maybe they aren't to O condition any more.

KENAT, probably the least qualified checker you'll ever meet...
