using a displacement instead of a force for the load

I am trying to simulate a plant stem, and have real experimental data in which a plant stem in displaced a certain distance due to an input frequency signal, and then measurements of the displacement at different parts along the stem were made.
Consequently for my ABAQUS simulation I want to place a load on my stem in the form of a displacement, so that I can compare the displacement along the stem with the data I already have. Does anyone know how I can place a displacement as a load instead of a force?

I forgot to mention that the displacement needs to be dynamic. I know how to use boundary conditions to apply a static displacement, but I am trying to simulate a stem that vibrates, so the load needs to move the stem by some set displacement value and then release.

You could set an amplitude for the displacement i.e. over a time period of say 1 second, the displacement varies according to the amplitude you set.

If you want the dynamics then I believe Abaqus/Explicit is in your future.

Conversely if you only have linear material properties you may want to do a frequency simulation.

Out of curiosity what are you trying to model? Earth quake on a tree, tomato plant on a truck..?

I hope this helps.

I am trying to model the effects of an insects vibrational signal along a plant. Insects use plants to communicate, and some plants can completely dissipate the signals insects send along them before they reflect back to the insect so that the insect never sees its own signal.
I have data collected using a laser vibrometer of how a plant shakes given a specific frequency, and I am trying to model the plant with ABAQUS in order to better understand how the plant dissipates the insects signal.
