I am trying to learn how to use the formula function in CATIA V5. I was attempting to use a formula on the diameter of a cylindar, but can't quite figure out how the formula feature works. Any help is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks

trumpet86, I am not quite understand what do you try to do, but this is how the formula works. For example if the outside radius of the cylinder equal to inside radius + the thickness of the wall, then what you should do is:
create a parameter for the wall thickness
create a parameter for the inside radius
create a parameter for the outside radius
After you create those parameters listed above, double click on the outside radius parameter. When the "edit parameter" pop up, click right mouse button on the "parameter's value". Next click "edit formula" then you just need to select parameter of the inside radius (+) wall thickness parameter. Try this out you will see the outside radius value changes when you change the inside radius or the wall thickness values.

That kind of answers my question, but I am trying to do something more basic such as changing the diameter of a SOLID cylindar with a formula. Thanks!

Trumpet,

-Create a new parameter for Cylinder diameter. Type of parameter set to Length. Give a name to your new parameter eg. DIAMETER
-At the sketch you need to do dimension as radius (you can't add formula to diameter). Click the dimension with mb3. Select 'Edit Formula' from Radius Object sub-menu.
- On Formula Editor give DIAMETER/2.
