Issue

AutoCAD Architectural Desktop does not include any commands or features for detailing.

Solution

The detailing commands and features of AutoCAD Architectural Desktop are included in Details functionality. The Details functionality is not available through the basic AutoCAD Architectural Desktop installation; it requires a separate installation process.

The AutoCAD Architectural Desktop CD contains a subdirectory named AECMigrate. Double-click the setup.exe file located in the AECMigrate directory to initiate the Details installation process. Follow the installation instructions provided during setup.

Note: AutoCAD Architectural Desktop sessions that include Details disable the multiple document interface, which means you can only open one drawing at a time.

Thanks for replying shadow. I already had the AEC migrate installed. When I try to use ADT2i with details, it does not dissable MDI and it won't let me do it.

Thanks

when are you trying to disable it before you get into the drawing or after you are in it

if its one try the opposite if all else look at whats running in the back ground disable any virusscanners or 3rd party software if everyone helps everybody the world will be a better place

Thanks again shadow. Please forgive me, but I am a new user and still trying to learn. I got the MDI disabled, then clicked on details, detail manager, insert detail. It then showed a library named project with the following path c://program files/autocad architectural 2/proj/acadarch/details. It then gave me the message userdet1.dbf not found. I have not added any of my own details to the library, but i wanted to work with the pre installed details. Any idea as to what is wrong?

Thanks again x-)

userdet1.dbf This is a database file look for it use windows search\find to find a file of this name
once found or if not try searching the cd maybe its there then in error message did it give you a path if so place a copy in the path you had been supplied by the message that sounds like your problem if everyone helps everybody the world will be a better place
