Using filler plates between end plate and concrete shear wall at a divider beam

Hello everyone,

I have a project that I was hired by a contractor to design/check connections for structural and misc. steel. Shop drawings were already submitted and approved as noted but they are asking for connections calcs. Now the contractor has raleased that his detailer left no room for adjustment for elevator divider beams and showed end plates anchored to the shear wall at both ends of the beam. They don't want to change the "connection type" since this one has already been reviewed.But they want to make the beam 1/4"-3/8" shorter at each end, anchor it to the wall as per the detail and then use filler plates to fill the gap. I've checked AISC Spec J5 Fillers but I am wondering how this is going to affect the calculation check, if any, other than making sure the weld between end plate and filler plate is sufficient. Obviously filler plate would have to be installed in two parts with long cuts to accomodate existing anchors.I am not sure if these plates will do anything. I'd appreciate any input on that ! Thanks in advance!
Sketch of what I think they are talking about is attached. Both plates will have additional holes in case they hit rebars in the shear wall..

Looks like a good way to introduce excessive bending into the fasteners .....

Of course its going to affect the connection, I'd view this as similar to the standoff on a baseplate. Are you running anchorage calculations or did you rely on the EOR's design?

If you chose to go this route, which I see as a hatchet job, you definitely should resubmit this to the SEOR as this is NOT an equivalent connection to the one that you say they approved.

Yes I am running anchorage calculations and anchors are ok for shear + bending moment due to this small eccentricity.
And yes I will be sending a sketch and calculations to SEOR for review..
