Please can someone help me. I have a very important V4 model that I need to output in iges format for my CAM system. I only have V5 of Catia V5.9.0.0 and have no idea how to import it. Why on earth is catia not backward compatible?.

Hi

If you have P2 level of Catia V5 you can import a V4 model into Catia V5 and then save it as IGES or STEP.

If you go to File-Open you can open the V4 model for viewing. Then right click *MASTER from the tree on the left of your screen and choose "Copy". Open a new CatPart and select Edit-Paste Special and choose CATIA Result from the box that appears. This will convert the parts to V5. You will need to hit the Update icon and "Reframe On" one of the parts to see them. Now just save the CatPart as an iges file assuming you have an iges license.
