Hi All,

Has anyone had a problem with the explode command NOT working with Release 15? We've recently installed this (R15) release and the “explode” command will not explode our assemblies. We've never run into this problem with any other releases....
Can anyone guide me on this one?

Thanks in advance

Bacvar

What service pack level?

If you are running a service pack, did you check the program directory for the problem?

Service Pack 4

I've checked the program files and searched through the tools options and have come up with nothing!

Is there some kind of setting for a distance between all exploded parts in the ass'y? Is this maybe set to a default of zero (0)and that's why it doesn't look like it's working?

I'm lost on this one!

Thanks again,
Bacvar

No - not the program files... The program directory is a CD that comes with your service pack. It has a list of all of the problems reported in a previous version or SP, that have or have not been addressed in the current. You take the number from the program directory, and lookup the problem on the IBM website. (APARs)

I looked in the program directory disk for V5R15SP04, and I find the following:

SHAPEDSG, HD38308, CIRCULAR PATTERN OF VOLUME CANNOT BE EXPLODED CORRECTLY

ASSEMBLY, HD36594, ASSEMBLY DESIGN / EXPLODE / SCROLL FOR EXPLODE CANNOT BE APPLIED WITH TYPE CONSTRAINED.

These are the only 2 that I see that could be your problem, and both were recorded in SP01.

Take the numbers that begin with "HD3", and input them at the IBM website. (in the "search" panel) You will see the APAR, along with a resolution, or an acknowledgement of the problem.

Hope that helps.

Solid7...

I checked out the Prog. Dir. cd that came with service pack 4 and could not find the "codes" that you found. There are many folders and links etc...
However, I looked up your "HD3..." numbers and found a link stating that there would be a fix for the error in service pack 6 and service pack 1 for release 16. There was no temporary fixes (well not that I found).
Do you know if there are any settings with-in Catia for a offset distance for the explode command that might be defaulted to 0(zero) like I stated in an earlier post?

Thanks for the help!

First off - the problem reporting in the program directory is always in the HTML files. In that particular disk, there are 4 html files. You don't need to search through the folders - they are always at the top level.

I don't know anything about the offset distance. I don't usually make exploded views.

Sorry.
